The Way of the Artist: Pendle Hill Speaker Series, 2010-2011
Tuesday Evenings, 7:30-9:00 pm in the Barn. Admission free.
Come explore the “Way of the Artist” with us as we hear from ten Quakers who have followed a deep call to the creative life and discovered the power of the arts for prayer, spiritual practice, healing, teaching, building community, and creating social change. Each speaker will share a sampling of his or her creative work and address the ways in which they have made connections between the arts and the life of the Spirit.
The Pendle Hill Bookstore will be open from 6:45 to 7:30 before each lecture. Consider joining us for dinner, $11 person, at 6:00 pm in the dining room of Main House. Reservations are required. Please call 610-566-4507 at least 8 hours in advance of the meal.

Philosopher, musician, essayist, and poet, La Verne Shelton will tell the story of the growth of her rhapsodic relationship to poetry and photography since 2003, when a long poem was first given to her full-blown during silent worship.

Martha is a professional actor who uses the intimate power of theatre to create performances that inspire and connect people to each other. She has been a roster artist with the Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour and has led workshops around the country, including at Friends General Conference and for Friends Association in Higher Education.
