The Gospel of John

Jan 13 to Mar 10 Winter 2013

Doug Gwyn

John tells the story of Jesus through a series of conversations. Each one begins with commonplace circumstances but leads to a higher level of awareness. We will follow these conversations, which invite us into our own conversation with Christ.

This course will explore the conversations with Nicodemus, the Samaritan woman, the disciples, Pilate, Mary Magdalene, and others. It will examine the way Quakers have engaged with the themes of these conversations. Along the way, we will find these conversations inviting us into our own conversation with Christ. This course draws upon Doug Gwyn’s recent book Conversation with Christ: Quaker Meditations on the Gospel of John (Quaker Press, 2011).

Sunday afternoon 3:00 - 5:30 pm
