A Healing Way with 49 Doves of Clay

49 clay dovesWhy:

Since the Orlando Shooting, I have been looking for a way to deal with my grief while also embracing my awe of people coming together around this tragic event. My first instinct was to turn to the healing power of clay. I also realized the healing process would be more powerful if shared with others.

What:

We will be taking advantage of the grounding, healing, and delicate nature of clay. There will be 49 clay Doves. Participants will carve a word or phrase to represent something that they want to let go of. On the other side of the Dove, participants will carve something that they want to release more of into the world. Once that is done each Dove will be put on a string. There will be time and space for people to share what they wrote on their dove. Following a moment of silence participants will take their Doves and hang them outside. The water elements of dew and rain will wash away the pain and spread the blessing/joys as the clay returns to the Earth.

Where: This event will take place in the Firbank Art Studio at Pendle Hill.

When: Thursday July 14th, 7pm – 8:45pm.

Who: Pendle Hill Staff, Surrounding Community, and Philadelphia Young Adult Friends.
