As One was first performed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in September 2014 and has since become one of the most frequently performed new operas. Composed by Laura Kaminsky with a libretto written by Mark Campbell and Kimberly Reed, the opera has only two characters, Hannah before (sung by baritone Kelly Markgraf) and Hannah after (sung by mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke). Singers are accompanied by a string quartet, the Fry Quartet in the premiere.
