Negro Membership in the Society of Friends is the first in a series of Pendle Hill historical studies. It resulted from a course on the social testimonies of the Religious Society of Friends given by the author at Pendle Hill in 1934. Originally published in the Journal of Negro History (vol. XXI, no. 2) in April 1936, it was reprinted the following year by Pendle Hill in partnership with the Friends Book Store, Philadelphia.
