Radical Faithfulness Program

An Intensive 9-Month Online/On-Campus Program
on Spiritual Activism and Faith-Based Organizing
(with five on-campus residencies)

From September 26, 2016 to May 22, 2017

As participants of Pendle Hill’s Radical Faithfulness Program, students will:

  1. Find Their Footing by gaining a stronger awareness of the spiritual call to social action emerging within many faith traditions, including their own, and become able to draw more deeply on these spiritual roots to inspire and sustain their work for positive social change over the long haul, and succumbing less and less to the pulls of denial, distraction, and despair.
  2. Chart A Path by coming to greater clarity and understanding about their own analysis, vision, and strategies for positive change–and the inter-relationship of the issues of peace, social justice, ecological sustainability, and spiritual fulfillment.
  3. Get Personal by moving beyond just focusing on their larger circle of concerns and focus attention on their particular spiritual leadings, personal gifts, and actual spheres of influence for effective action–including learning to tell their stories and become powerful messengers using various communication approaches.
  4. Become More Effective by learning to both understand and apply several social action skills and different nonviolent strategies in the service of peace, social justice, and ecological sustainability.
  5. Develop Greater Cultural Competence in facing and addressing the the power differences that so often separate us (classism, racism, sexism, etc.), and learn to tap the power of diversity, justice, and inclusion in community action work that heals, reconnects, and turns the tide.
  6. Step Into The Future Boldly by identifying their own “growing edges” and developing a long-term plan for the educational and personal work they will continue to do, both individually and within their communities of support, to become ever more powerful and capable of the faithfully engaging in the ongoing spiritual practices of healing and repairing of the world.
