Recipe: Chocolate Birthday Cake

Cook Laura Kronz made chocolate cake with marshmallow fondant frosting for Len Crane, Director of Finance and Human Resources’, birthday. The simple chocolate cake recipe is sure to please!

For a 9-inch cake:

1 cup butter
2.5 cup sugar
4 eggs
1 cup cocoa
2 cup water
2 ¾ cup flour
2 tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt

Directions:
Sift and mix flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
Boil water and mix with cocoa powder until dissolved. Set aside to cool.
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (5-10 minutes).
Add eggs.
Add flour mix and cocoa alternatively.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 70 minutes.
Let cool before removing from pan.
