Development Overview

The Development department is housed in The Barn

As we continue to face an unstable political climate, with concerns about peace and justice in the United States and the world, Friends of all ages are seeking methods for creating change from a spiritually grounded place, a Beloved Community. Pendle Hill joyfully strives to create a space where people can come together to focus on spiritual practices and community building, with the ultimate objective of co-creating a more peaceful, just, and sustainable world.

The Development department at Pendle Hill is responsible for acquiring the funds that keep the organization viable and running smoothly. It takes money to pay for staff, office buildings and supplies, rental space, grounds and maintenance, and, most importantly, our well-received, short-term educational programs – lectures and presentations, conferences and institutes, weekend workshops and retreats, short courses, and exhibits. Like most nonprofits, we are funded by a variety of revenue sources but individual donations make up nearly three quarters of all charitable giving. Your contributions directly support Pendle Hill’s mission and its vision, to create peace with justice in the world by transforming lives.

Katrina McQuail, former coordinator for Pendle Hill’s annual Young Adult Friends Continuing Revolution conference, explains why she gives to Pendle Hill:

Pendle Hill is especially important to me because I know how powerful and transformative its programs can be from personal experience. I participated in the first Continuing Revolution Young Adult Friend program in 2012 focused on Stewardship. The intensive nature of the program is unlike any other Quaker conference that I have experienced.

Katrina McQuail, former Continuing Revolution CoordinatorToday, I write to you to ask if you will support Pendle Hill’s efforts in continuing to offer essential programs that are socially relevant and spiritually grounded in today’s world. I give to the Annual Fund because it supports the day-to-day operations of Pendle Hill, which has an immediate impact on helping maintain its core educational programs designed to educate, motivate, and renew visitors, so they return home with the courage to follow their leadings with conviction and inspire others in their communities.

We need supporters like you to help sustain our essential enriching programs such as Continuing Revolution, and to ensure Pendle Hill continues to hold space for seeking Spirit and strengthening connection for future generations.

Will you join me in supporting Pendle Hill in this important work?
