Synopsis
This large-format book reproduces the silhouettes contained in the original album in the collection of the Friends Historical Library of Swarthmore College, which has the distinction of being the only American duplicate album still intact. There are 782 named cuttings missing from the pages; 139 Britons, 609 Americans, and 35 early Quaker luminaries are profiled. The book also contains two essays: “American Quaker in Profile,” by Eleanor Price Mather and “The Significance of Styles of Dress within the Religious Society of Friends,” by Joan Kendall.
