Synopsis
More than 2,000 people in eight countries had a hand in the preparation of the Quaker Tapestry, which sprang from the inspiration of one woman and a boy in a country Friends’ Meeting in England in 1981, using as its model the famous Bayeux Tapestry. The Quaker Tapestry is a celebration of the three hundred years’ experience and the spiritual insights of the Religious Society of Friends (known as Quakers). The book is not a brief history of Quakerism nor a work of propaganda, but an extended commentary and reverie of the 75 facets of the Tapestry panels, whose subjects were chosen and lovingly illustrated by those who worked them under expert advice: an attempt in an unusual form to communicate and share.
