Synopsis
These ten plays span a period from the founding of Quakerism in the 1600s to the modern day, with most of them in the twentieth century. Sometimes the language is taken directly from original sources, giving the performers and audience a sense of the times. A “closet play” means that they can be performed without any actual action: for example, in a zoom, or in one’s living room, with no movement, just reading. Directions are included, however, for those who want to perform them. They are intended to educate readers on the origins of Quakerism and the role Quakers have played historically.
