Synopsis
Six years ago, Dewi Heald set himself the task of visiting all 400 of the UK’s Quaker Meeting Houses over the next forty years. However, this was no ‘tick box’ exercise using a spreadsheet, this was the start of a series of unplanned, haphazard wanderings going wherever he thought that he was supposed to be next. 12 of the visits are discussed in this book, along with 12 essays about general Quaker subjects : peace, simplicity, equality, truth, and arguing with each other on the internet.
Witty, entertaining, interesting, faithful, and quirky, this book attempts to both document Quakers in the UK in changing times and also provide thought-provoking and funny comments on life in the UK along the way. It is designed for both Quakers and non-Quakers alike and is intended as the first in a series that will eventually cover all 400 Meeting Houses (though you may have to wait 40 years for the final edition).
