Synopsis
“Songs for Diana celebrates, in a magnificent sound and light show, the brief life of Searl’s daughter, Diana. Sound dominates – from the whoops and moans of children to the sounds of a windshield wiper plant near his Buffalo home to the choral sounds of Quaker meeting to the shrieks of osprey tending to their young to the cry of Searl’s own heart as he traces the fullness of his love for Diana. All of the sounds constitute “a tidal force/beneath the surface of language,” and “an ocean of Light and Love/to overcome an ocean of Darkness.” His music harmonizes my soul as I remember those days with Stan, and I seem for the first time to understand.
