Synopsis
In this volume, we find brought together interpretations of five classics of devotional literature: The Imitation of Christ, The Introduction to the Devout Life by Francis de Sales, the Journal of John Woolman, Purity of Heart: Is to Will One Thing by Søren Kierkegaard, and The Selected Letters of Friedrich von Hugel. The author testifies that these books have doors of life to him, and in this labor of love he hopes to open those doors that may enter into the life of prayer and devotion which characterizes each of these and their authors. Professor Steere has become one of Protestantism’s most helpful guides towards a more meaningful prayer life, and this book will be welcomed by the ever widening circle of those who, like him, are convinced that deep Christian experience must “begin from within.”
