Synopsis
George Fox (1624-91), the first Quaker, was the author of a classic spiritual autobiography. His lengthy and substantial Journal is the life story of a weaver’s son who became the leader of a numerous people of God who withstood much persecution. Fox was a religious genius of great simplicity, depth, and clarity, with a massive grasp of the early Christian message.
This Reader’s Companion first sets the seventeenth century religious scene and then gives necessary help with Fox’s language. The main themes of his teaching are analyzed and displayed in a Concordance containing notes and short articles.
