Join Francisco Burgos in a pilgrimage to Monteverde, Costa Rica. As we explore nature, accompany one another, and create space for practices that nurture our spiritual journey, participants will be invited to embrace daily life with simplicity, gratitude, hope, and a deep sense of connection.

Kairos on the Mountain is an invitation to pause, reflect on your personal and communal spiritual path, and encounter the Divine in nature while walking with others and experiencing the living dynamic between community and solitude.

The pilgrimage will create a unique space for spiritual growth by combining key practices from Quaker and other faith traditions and providing opportunities to engage in contemplative praying of the Scriptures and experience the deep practice of worship sharing. Participants will learn about the history of the Quaker community in Monteverde as they explore the beauty of the cloud forest. This kairos pilgrimage is rooted in meeting for worship, worship sharing, lectio divina (divine reading), silence, community, and celebration.

This spiritual experiment will include two 90-minute online sessions prior to the trip to Monteverde to support our preparation for this journey.

Cancellation Policy for Kairos on the Mountain:

$150 of the registration fee is non-refundable.

The cost of the program is dependent on filling the program to capacity. If you cancel before the registration deadline, we will refund all registration fees except the $150 non-refundable portion. The same is true if you cancel after the registration deadline and we are able to fill your spot with a new registrant.

After the registration deadline, if you cancel and we are unable to replace your registration, we will follow these guidelines for refunds:

From December 1-31, 2024, we will refund 50% of the registration fee.

From January 1-31, 2025, we will refund 20% of the registration fee.

After February 1, 2025, there will be no refund.

Francisco Burgos is the executive director at Pendle Hill and has facilitated spiritual retreats and  lectio divina sessions for many audiences. Francisco was a De La Salle Christian Brother for almost ten years, serving in Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Costa Rica, and has been a Friend since 2004. He is a member of Harrisburg Friends Meeting and an attender of meetings including Monteverde Friends Meeting in Costa Rica, Adelphi Friends Meeting in Maryland, and Providence Meeting in Pennsylvania.
