About the Author(s)
Winifred Rawlins (1907-1997) wrote fourteen volumes of poetry and the correspondence printed in The Inner Islands. She began writing after emigrating from England in 1947. In the United States, she worked with farm workers in California as well as with the War Resisters League and Pendle Hill. After serving as the head resident at Pendle Hill, she directed two Quaker retirement homes, the Harned in Media, Pennsylvania, and the New England Friends Home in Hingham, Massachusetts. She was a member of Providence Friends Meeting in Media.
