Synopsis

An International Quaker Working Party on the Israel-Palestine Conflict visited the Middle East in June 2002 and eventually produced this report on the three-week trip to the region, in which they interviewed the range of stakeholders in the conflict, including Jewish Israelis in Israel, Jewish settlers in the occupied territories, Palestinian Israelis, Palestinian residents in Gaza and the West Bank, and Palestinian refugees in the surrounding countries. In addition to presenting the often conflicting narratives of politicians, activists, scholars, military leaders, and others from these communities, the authors advance their own opinions on how to achieve a just peace, based on their vision of Israel/Palestine as a land that allows for all Israelis and Palestinians to reside in it and offers all such prerequisites of a decent life as public security, basic human rights, full participation in democratic governance, and opportunity to participate in a well-rooted and vibrant national culture.
