This course will explore the processes of creating art for personal transformation in an time of global transformation. How might this time of global pandemic and sheltering-in-place be an opportunity? How does creating a safe space for a healing journey for myself help to heal/make positive changes in a wider world? Drawing on these questions and on stories of ourselves, we will use creative writing, drawing, painting, collage, and sculptural techniques to alter existing books into our own interactive works of art.
Using the limited resources of what’s available at home, we will create abundance from scarcity. This course is especially relevant for those who wish to process a life change, honor an important memory, or seek vision.
The program welcomes those with no experience, little experience, or vast experience in Altered Book-Making. Limit of 18.
