Synopsis
The Ingersoll Lectures, held at Harvard University each year between May and December, focused upon “the Immortality of Man.” Howard Thurman’s 1947 lecture, entitled “The Negro Spiritual Speaks of Life and Death,” has been celebrated as “one of the most brilliant and satisfying, both intellectually and spiritually, in the entire series.” It is still considered a treasured classic today. Hard to find nowadays.
