Beyond Diversity 101™ RACE

This BD101 workshop offers a space for people to name and transform internalized, interpersonal, and structural patterns of white supremacy, racism, and colonialism. We will work as a whole group as well as in racial identity Affinity for Healing Groups* to:

• Identify and understand patterns of racism, white supremacy, and colonization within ourselves and throughout society;
• Begin to replace these internalized patterns with ones of justice and liberation;
• Build skills in accessing inner guidance and reconnecting to ancestral wisdom for living into wholeness; and
• Develop skill in speaking from YOUR knowingness; speaking truth out loud.

*As we continue to grow BD101RACE, we will be adding more Affinity for Healing Groups to include more People of Color.

Niyonu D. Spann designed and facilitated the firstBD101 Intensive in 1999. There have since been an additional 21 intensives hosted in the US and Canada. Niyonu brings over 30 years as an Organization Development Practitioner. Her work is now focused on root-level transformation—for individuals, organizations and communities. Niyonu is also a trained meditation teacher and singer-songwriter.

Lisa Graustein holds an MEd in racial justice education and has 20 years of experience as a middle and high school teacher. She first attended BD101 in 2003 and began co-facilitating BD101 in 2007. Lisa works as a social justice and equity trainer and facilitator, serving schools and non-profits.

Angela Cusicanqui is an early childhood teacher and advocate who has served family child care programs in Stamford, CT for four years through her work at All Our Kin. Angela emigrated from Bolivia in 2012 and her activation for transformational work and root healing began in 2016 after her first BD101. For the past three years, Angela has been on an expansive journey of liberation of systems of oppression through community activism, anti-racism, and decolonization work.

Isha Vela is a psychologist, Certified Core Energetics Practitioner, and founder of Embodied Quest, LLC, a somatic-energetic healing practice that focuses on community-based healing. Isha is passionate about supporting social justice activists, healers, and artists in their quest for inner liberation and is currently developing mind-body-spirit decolonization retreats for Latinx femmes.
