Renovations are underway in Main House thanks to our donors, staff, and contractors’ hard work. The dining room, Tree Room, and kitchen will be renewed with new floors and a new work island in the kitchen, along with the installation of a new more accessible buffet line. A major goal of this renovation is to make Main House much more accessible to those with mobility limitations. To that end, a new bathroom adjacent to the dining room will be ADA-compliant when completed. Also, a new ramp will be created for the main entrance to Main House.
Work began on November 12, and we expect it will be completed by December 12 due to contractors’ round-the-clock efforts. This construction has resulted in some changes to our normal patterns, particularly around dining services. Until the work is completed, we are not able to accommodate sojourners or guests for meals except for those in groups using the campus. We are thankful that with this intense work schedule, we will soon be able to welcome all our guests with a greater degree of radical hospitality.
Because of the renovations, we also had to temporarily remove the exhibit of Jennifer Elam’s artwork from the Tree Room. “Art as Sanctuary: Between Trauma and Redemption” will return to the Tree Room on December 19, 2018 and the display will be extended through February 19, 2019.
Come visit campus after the 12th, and see what we have done. Remember to make reservations 24 hours in advance for lunch or dinner.
