Beloved Quaker author, pastor, and blogger Phil Gulley delivers this year’s Stephen G. Cary Memorial Lecture from 7:30pm-9pm in The Barn at Pendle Hill. The lecture is free, but reservations are required to attend in person because of limited seating. If you are not able to make it on the day itself, sign-up for Live Streaming! Reservations are now being taken at www.pendlehill.org/philgulley.

The Stephen G. Cary Memorial Lecture was endowed by Norval and Ann Reece and established in 2004 in concert with Pendle Hill’s publication of Steve Cary’s memoir, The Intrepid Quaker: One Man’s Quest for Peace.

Beautiful Happenings

Dear friends,

It is my joy to write to you with magnolias and corylopsis abounding outside as I type. Worship this morning was deeply centered, and it was terrific to have the Friends Council on Education’s Educators new to Quakerism group with us. The ministry, to me, was at times soothing and in another moment powerfully provocative. For all of this, I am so grateful.

There are some other “beautiful happenings” on campus, too, including our QuakerBooks partnership, Phil Gulley’s upcoming lecture, and the good feeling of having full programs. Read more

QuakerBooks of FGC is Now Open at Pendle Hill with New Hours of Operation

Pendle Hill and Friends General Conference (FGC) are happy to announce an experimental collaboration bringing FGC’s QuakerBooks to Pendle Hill.

For at least the next six months, QuakerBooks will operate from the site of the current Pendle Hill bookstore. Pendle Hill will now have over a thousand new titles to serve the 4,500 annual campus visitors. Likewise, FGC will be able to better serve Friends living in and visiting the Philadelphia region with a convenient walk-in bookstore, ample parking, and the beauty and serenity of the Pendle Hill campus. By having one bookstore serving our two institutions, we hope to offer a better and stronger service for everyone. Read more

Continuing Revolution: A Young Adult Friends Conference on Equality
Jun 5-10, 2015

This summer, Pendle Hill’s Young Adult Friends Conference – YAFCON – is taking up the issue of the Equality Testimony in our six-day intensive exploration of spiritually-rooted activism. We will be working to unpack our own privilege and power, and develop a greater capacity to confront the many intersecting systems of oppression in our communities and in the world.

The program, available here, includes workshops, lectures, small group opportunities, fellowship, and both programmed and unprogrammed worship. Read more

Recipe: Simple Bread Pudding

Here at Pendle Hill, we’ve found that this light and fluffy bread pudding is great for dessert, and an excellent way to use up any stale bread or rolls. This basic recipe will make one 8-inch square baking pan.
