Thank you! Your strong support of Pendle Hill helped us meet – and exceed – the $50,000 Annual Fund Challenge Match early! We are so grateful for you.
We hope that our gratitude can be contagious. From us to you, this is a thank you as well as an invitation to contemplate that for which you’re grateful. Perhaps the Kenneth Boulding quote, below, will inspire us all to be centered each day in thankfulness:
“There is a quiet, open place in the depths of the mind, to which we can go many times in the day and lift up our soul in praise, thankfulness and conscious unity. With practise this God-ward turn of the mind becomes an almost constant direction, underlying all our other activities.”
Eight students completed Pendle Hill’s first annual month-long Institute for Creative Conflict Engagement and Transformation in August. A diverse group explored a variety of ways to engage conflict to avoid violence, to understand and address antagonists, and to open up conflict situations to the possibility of transformation.
Using their own internal conflicts, conflict with family members, co-workers, and folks in their meetings, as well as international examples, participants spent 27 days on campus training in Compassionate Nonviolent Communication, Compassionate Listening, Conflict Assessment, Basic Mediation, and The Inner Work of Peacemaking, Forgiveness, and Alternatives to Violence. Based on our experience, an improved Institute will be offered again next summer.
Free and open to the public. This event will be streamed live over the Internet – registration available here.

By holding these workers and their families in the light, we can offer international visibility and a voice for the voiceless in the global economy. Read more

Pendle Hill has touched the lives of many people during its 85 year history. Hundreds of diverse students, sojourners, and groups have come to our campus and been transformed by this Spirit-led community. Because of that spiritual bonding, many support our mission and vision through their generous financial donations. Another way to contribute to Pendle Hill is by participating in our low-cost Lives of Service weekend, September 18-20, by helping us spruce up our grounds and buildings. Read more
